ಹಂಚಿ ತಿನ್ನೋಣ - ಜಗದೀಶ ಚಂದ್ರ ಬಿ ಎಸ್ -

"ಅಮ್ಮ ಇಂದು ನೀನು ಕೊಟ್ಟ ತಿಂಡಿಯನ್ನು ನಾನೊಬ್ಬಳೆ ತಿಂದು ಬಿಟ್ಟೆ. ಅದು ತುಂಬಾ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿತ್ತು, ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ನಾನು ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಕೊಡಲೇ ಇಲ್ಲ" ಎಂದು ಪುಟ್ಟಿ ಮುಗ್ಧವಾಗಿ ನಿಜ ಹೇಳಿದಾಗ, ಅಮ್ಮ, "ಕಂದ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡು ತಿನ್ನಬೇಕು, ನಿಜ ಹೇಳಿದೆಯಲ್ಲ ಜಾಣೆ ನೀನು" ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದಳು.

ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ದಿನ, ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸದವಳ ಮಗು ಹಸಿವು ಹಸಿವು ಎಂದು ಅವಳ ಅಮ್ಮನನ್ನು ಕಾಡುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಿಂಡಿ ಬೇಕಾದಷ್ಟು ಇದ್ದರೂ ಅಮ್ಮ ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ಇದ್ದಾಳಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಪುಟ್ಟಿ ಯೋಚಿಸಿ, ಅಮ್ಮನ ಬಳಿ ಹೋಗಿ, "ಅಮ್ಮ ಇಂದು ನನಗೆ ತಿಂಡಿಯನ್ನು ಡಬ್ಬಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಕಿಕೊಡು, ನಾನು ತಿನ್ನಬೇಕು" ಎಂದಳು. ಅಮ್ಮ "ಇಂದು ರಜಾ, ಡಬ್ಬಿ ಏಕೆ" ಎಂದಾಗ, ಪುಟ್ಟಿ "ನೀನು ಡಬ್ಬಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟರೆ ತಾನೆ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡು ತಿನ್ನುವುದು, ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ನನಗೆ ಡಬ್ಬಿಯಲ್ಲೇ ಬೇಕು" ಎಂದು ಹಠ ಮಾಡಿದಳು. "ಸಧ್ಯ ತಾನೇ ಕೇಳಿ ತಿಂಡಿ ತಿನ್ನಲು ಒಪ್ಪಿದ್ದಾಳಲ್ಲ, ನೋಡೋಣ, ತಿಂಡಿಯನ್ನು ಯಾರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡು ತಿನ್ನುತ್ತಾಳೋ ನಮ್ಮ ಈ ಮುದ್ದು ಪುಟ್ಟಿ" ಎಂದು ಅಮ್ಮ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ತಿಂಡಿಯನ್ನು ಡಬ್ಬಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಳು. ಕೂಡಲೇ ಪುಟ್ಟಿ ಸಂತೋಷದಿಂದ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ ಕೆಲಸದವಳ ಮಗುವನ್ನು ಬಾ, ನಾವು ಶಾಲೆ ಆಟ ಆಡೋಣ ಎಂದು ಕರೆದು, ಆಟವಾಡಿದ ನಂತರ ಆ ಮಗುವಿಗೂ ತನ್ನ ಡಬ್ಬಿಯಲ್ಲಿನ ತಿಂಡಿಯನ್ನು ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡಾಗ, ಪುಟ್ಟಿಯ ಅಮ್ಮನ ಕಣ್ಣಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರಾಡಿತ್ತು. ಮಕ್ಕಳಾಗಿದ್ದಾಗಿನ ಇಂತಹ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಬುದ್ಧಿಗಳು ನಂತರ ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗಿಬಿಡುತ್ತದೋ ಎಂದು ನಿಟ್ಟುಸಿರು ಬಿಟ್ಟಳು.

The adorable child, Putty, naively informed her mother, "Mom, I ate all of today's goodies by myself since they were so delicious.  I kept it from all of my friends.  "You're a good girl, aren't you? Haven't I told you to share and eat with your friends?" Mom then said to Putty.  Feeling guilty, Putty said, "I'm sorry, mom. I promise not to do this again."

A few days went by.  The maid's child once haunted her mother because she was starving.  As Putty saw this, she began to think and reflect.  Why is Mom not providing that poor girl with any snacks when there are so many snacks available at home?   Following this, Putty made the decision to take action to address the issue.  "Mom, please give me some tiffin in my tiffin box," she asked as she approached her mom.  "Why do you want tiffin in the tiffin box when today is a holiday?" said the surprised mother.   Putty then retorted, "I can share with others and eat as you mentioned the other day if you give in a tiffin box."  Mom was wondering what would happen after she put the snacks in her tiffin box.

Putty was thrilled and hurried to the garden right away to invite the maid's youngster to play.  Puttty informed the child, "Today, let's play 'school drama,' in which we are both classmates," as she approached her.  A short while later, Putty said to the child, "Let's eat together; it's lunchtime."  She gave the child some of her mother's goodies, and they both had fun playing together.  The hungry small child was overjoyed.  When Mom saw her kid acting so sweet and innocent, her eyes welled up with tears.

"At this age, innocent children are so pure and good, but as they grow older, they completely change their behaviour with the influence of surroundings," she muttered to herself.   Isn't what she said right?
